Central Ballet Theatre Presents Exodus

Celebrating its 22nd season, Central Ballet Theatre of Greeneville presents Exodus: The Story of God’s Deliverance.  With a cast of 110, including guest professional dancers, CBT tells the story of how God uses Moses to deliver the Hebrew slaves in Egypt. An original ballet loosely based on the DreamWorks Prince of Egypt movie, CBT includes beautiful dancers, Egyptian guards with real whips, authentic costumes, lovely Red Sea theatrics, and video backdrops. When Pharaoh’s Daughter despises her family’s attempts to destroy the Hebrew baby boys, she adopts a Hebrew baby son that she draws from the water. This baby, Moses, grows to a man of understanding, but when he kills an Egyptian guard, he flees to the land of Midian.  Finding a wife and a new life, he encounters a burning bush that is not consumed.  Called by God, Moses goes back to Egypt, and with the help of Aaron, his Hebrew brother, they visit the new Pharaoh. Asking permission for the Hebrew nation to go celebrate a festival in honor of their God, Pharaoh answers, “No, I do not know this god.” Unfortunately for the fate of Pharaoh, he will soon encounter this God.  Finally, the Hebrews are begged to leave, but the fate of the nation’s escape from bondage is not complete. God will have the final say.  This ballet, acceptable for all ages, leaves the audience uplifted and teaches timeless Christian truths in an artistically unforgettable experience.
