“Every important occasion in life must have music,” said the founder and first conductor of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra (KSO), Bertha Walburn Clark. Formally established in 1935, the KSO is the oldest continually performing symphony orchestra in the Southeast. Now, 90 years later, the KSO consists of 80 professional musicians, and performs 300 programs throughout the region each season, reaching audiences of more than 200,000 people. The KSO continues to develop and sustain a symphony orchestra of the highest artistic standards to reach East Tennessee audiences with excellent musical performance and education programs.
As part of NPAC’s Free Community Performance Series, the KSO presents a family-friendly evening of light classics and popular tunes you’re sure to love.
